When Akiane Kramarik was only eight years old, she created a painting that would touch hearts across the globe. The painting, called “Prince of Peace,” was a stunning and peaceful image of Jesus Christ. It was so detailed and full of emotion that people couldn’t believe a child had created it.
But the painting wasn’t just about Akiane’s amazing skill—it was also about the incredible journey behind it, a journey filled with visions, loss, and finally, an amazing recovery after 16 years of waiting. When the painting finally returned to her, it became clear just how special her story really was.
Now, Akiane is 28 years old. She’s a famous painter, writer, and philanthropist, helping many people with her work. But no matter how much she’s achieved, “Prince of Peace” still holds a special place in her heart. She explains that the painting came from what she calls a “visionary inspiration,” a moment when she felt like something bigger than herself was guiding her.
“It comes from God,” Akiane once said. “His voice is soft and lovely.” The painting shows Jesus in a very gentle way, with a loving expression that captures a human side of the divine. This deep connection to something spiritual continues to guide Akiane in everything she does.
Akiane grew up in a small town in Idaho, in a family that didn’t believe in God. Her mother, Forelli, was from Lithuania, and her father was American. Neither of them practiced any religion, and they didn’t talk about God or faith at home. So, when Akiane started talking about visions of heaven and seeing Jesus, it was a complete surprise.
Her mom remembered it well. “We didn’t attend church, pray, or talk about God,” Forelli said. “Then suddenly, our daughter started talking about God’s love and wanting to paint what she saw. It was amazing.”
By the time she was just four years old, Akiane was already telling her parents about dreams and visions. She said she had been to heaven, a place full of light, beauty, and peace, and she had seen Jesus there. She didn’t see him as some faraway figure, but as someone very real. Akiane felt like she had to paint what she saw.
Her parents, amazed but unsure, watched as their little girl picked up her paintbrushes and began creating art that seemed far too good for her age. Her talent was clear, and it seemed like she had been given a gift from God.
One of the most exciting parts of Akiane’s story came when she started looking for a model to use for “Prince of Peace.” She had a very clear image of what Jesus looked like in her visions, and she needed to find someone who matched it. “I spent a long time looking for a model,” Akiane explained.
She prayed for help in finding the right person. Then one day, a carpenter knocked on their door. Akiane knew right away—this was the man she had seen in her visions. “That was him,” she told her mom. The carpenter agreed to model for her, and soon after, Akiane started painting.
The painting that came out of this was incredible. “Prince of Peace” showed Jesus with kind, loving eyes and a calm expression that made people feel at peace when they looked at it. It wasn’t long before the painting gained attention all around the world. People couldn’t believe that such a young girl had painted something so beautiful and spiritually powerful.
But the story took a sad turn. After becoming famous, “Prince of Peace” was stolen. For sixteen years, Akiane didn’t know where her painting was. It had been sold without her family’s permission, and legal battles over who owned it went on for years. Akiane often talked about how much she missed the painting and wanted to share it with others again. She knew how much peace it brought to people who saw it.
Finally, after all those years, Akiane’s painting was returned to her. The long legal battle was over, and the artwork was back where it belonged. Akiane chose to sell it to a private collector who promised to display it for everyone to see. Today, “Prince of Peace” can be seen at the Belóved Gallery in Marble Falls, Texas, where people come from all over to experience its beauty.
For Akiane, seeing the painting in a gallery brought a sense of closure. “It still feels unreal,” she said. “The journey this painting has been on is almost unbelievable—but it taught me about the power of love and faith. Love is incredibly strong.”
Since the return of her painting, Akiane has continued to create more art. Her work often focuses on themes like heaven, love, innocence, and humanity. Each painting is inspired by her spiritual experiences, and she uses her art to share those experiences with the world. Akiane is also a writer, and she has published poetry and books about her journey and the importance of staying true to her inspiration.
On top of that, she has dedicated her time and money to helping children and supporting causes that make the world a better place.
Getting “Prince of Peace” back was more than just the return of a painting. It was the revival of a story about faith, love, and the way art can bring people together. Akiane’s journey, from a little girl with visions to a world-renowned artist, is a reminder that when we follow our heart and trust in something bigger, amazing things can happen.
