Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are still embroiled in a dispute over their former winery. The actress just wants to have peace.
Angelina Jolie, 49, reportedly has no interest in continuing the bitter feud with her ex-husband Brad Pitt, 60. The actors are still fighting over the winery they co-owned until 2021. Jolie’s legal counsel, Paul Murphy, claimed to “Page Six” that Pitt has long had full control over all shared properties and the proceeds from them. “But he still demands more and is suing Angelina for $67 million plus punitive damages,” Murphy explained.
Jolie Desires “Healing”
According to the lawyer, Pitt’s lawsuit aims solely to “punish and control Angelina.” She, on the other hand, longs for peace and is only forced to act: “While Angelina once again asks Mr. Pitt to end the dispute and finally put their family on a clear path to healing, she has no choice but to gather the necessary evidence to refute his allegations.”
Complicated Legal Battle over Château Miraval
The dispute over the winery has been ongoing for several years. In 2021, Angelina Jolie allegedly sold her shares in their South France winery to a Russian billionaire, prompting her ex to file a lawsuit. He claimed that the sale violated their agreement, which stipulated that he could purchase her shares, according to US media reports.
From Jolie’s perspective, the story reportedly differs: Brad Pitt rejected her shares after she refused to sign a comprehensive nondisclosure agreement. She, in turn, demanded $250 million in compensation, according to rumors.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had been a couple since 2005 and married in 2014 at their winery. Two years later, the “Maleficent” actress filed for divorce. Since then, a bitter dispute has raged, during which Pitt allegedly lost contact with their six children.
