We’ve all done things we wish we could undo—moments, choices, or words that we regret. But for Ethan “ModBoy” Bramble, an Australian known for his extreme body modifications, his choices are literally inked into his skin for everyone to see.
Ethan is a body art enthusiast who has taken tattooing to an extreme level. Covering himself with over 200 tattoos, he’s transformed into a true work of art. These days, tattoos are a popular way for people to express their individuality.
Many people get small, unique designs that hold special meaning, and body art is everywhere. But Ethan’s journey goes way beyond what most people would dare, crossing a line that few would even imagine.
It all began when Ethan was just 11 years old. His first taste of body modification was stretching his earlobes, a process that involves gradually expanding the piercing. As the years passed, he grew more interested in altering his appearance in ways most people wouldn’t dream of. He’s had his tongue split so it resembles a snake’s, his belly button removed, and countless tattoos inked across his body.
Yet, it’s his tattoos that get the most attention, as he’s covered nearly from head to toe in intricate designs. In a recent interview, Ethan revealed that he has spent around $60,000 AUD—about $39,000 USD—on his tattoos and modifications. “People don’t realize how much it costs,” he said with a grin. “But for me, it was an investment in myself.”
Now, however, Ethan’s thoughts on his body art are changing, especially as a father. In an interview with LadBibleTV’s No Filter, he spoke about some regrets that have surfaced over time. “I guess you could say I regret some tattoos,” he admitted. But then, after a pause, he added, “Not just regret. There’s a difference between regretting and wishing people saw you differently.”
One of his biggest concerns is how people see him when he’s with his daughter, particularly in everyday settings like taking her to school. “The face is a big thing,” he said, his voice softening. “It can cause a lot of problems… not for everyone, but for some people. And I probably wouldn’t want my daughter to deal with that until she’s older.”
Reflecting on his past decisions, he confessed, “I wish I hadn’t gone so overboard with my face.”
In a bid to change his appearance, Ethan has begun undergoing laser tattoo removal, a process that is both painful and expensive. He hopes to remove some of the tattoos he got in his younger years. “I’ve been doing laser surgery for pretty much a year now,” he explained. “It’s done in sections, but I’ve probably covered the whole thing six or seven times.”
For Ethan, this is more than just an appearance change; it’s a journey to find peace with himself. “I started the laser removal because of the anxiety I was feeling,” he shared. “Mental stuff is tricky to pin down, but I believe a lot of my anxiety came from having a face full of tattoos.”
Looking ahead, Ethan feels hopeful about the future. “I’m happy with how I look, but I’m also happy knowing that over the next couple of years, my face tattoos will slowly disappear,” he said, smiling at the thought. “I’m just clearing the canvas.”
