The nominations for the 76th Emmy Awards have been announced, with FX series “Shōgun” and “The Bear” leading the pack.
The nominations for the 76th Emmy Awards are out. Scheduled for September 15 this year, the FX series “The Bear: King of the Kitchen” has emerged as a frontrunner. The comedy program has garnered a total of 23 nominations, including in the prestigious category of “Best Comedy Series.” With this, “The Bear” breaks a record set by “30 Rock” in 2009. The NBC series created by Tina Fey, 54, had secured 22 nominations in the comedy category at that time.
In the drama series category, the historical series “Shōgun” leads the way. The FX program has received a total of 25 nominations, including in the top category of “Best Drama Series.” Both “The Bear” and “Shōgun” are available on the streaming service Disney+ in Germany.
The Drama Nominees
Among the other nominated series in the “Best Drama Series” category is Netflix’s “The Crown.” The final season of the show about the British royals has received a total of 18 nominations. Actor Dominic West, 54, who portrays then-Prince Charles, 75, in the program, is nominated for an Emmy Award for the first time in the category “Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series.”
Additionally, Amazon’s “Fallout,” Apple TV+’s “The Morning Show,” and Netflix’s mixed-reviewed grand production “3 Body Problem” (among others) are also nominated in the “Best Drama Series” category.
“Reindeer Baby” Secures Eleven Emmy Nominations
One of last year’s phenomenon series has also secured a total of eleven nominations: Netflix’s “Reindeer Baby” is nominated not only as “Best Limited Series” but also sees its creator, writer, and lead actor Richard Gadd, 35, nominated three times: for “Best Lead Actor in a Limited Series,” “Best Writing for a Limited Series,” and as an executive producer alongside others in the “Best Limited Series” category. This positions “Reindeer Baby” as a clear favorite in the limited series category.
The Comedy Nominees
Alongside the aforementioned comedy series “The Bear,” Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” once again proves very popular among Emmy voters. The series has received a total of 21 nominations, including for “Best Comedy Series.” The main cast trio—Steve Martin, 78, Martin Short, 74, and Selena Gomez, 31—are each nominated in the comedy acting categories.
Robert Downey Jr., Jodie Foster, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph: Oscar Winners Nominated for Emmy Awards
Recently awarded Oscars in the supporting actor categories, Robert Downey Jr. (for “Oppenheimer,” 59) and Da’Vine Joy Randolph (for “The Holdovers,” 38) can also celebrate Emmy nominations. Downey Jr. is nominated for “Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series” for his role in the HBO show “The Sympathizer,” while Randolph is nominated for “Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series” for “Only Murders in the Building.”
Former Oscar winner Jodie Foster, 61, is nominated for “Best Lead Actress in a Limited Series” for her role in the fourth season of HBO’s anthology series “True Detective: Night Country.” She is also nominated as an executive producer in the “Best Limited Series” category. “True Detective: Night Country” is nominated for a total of 19 Emmy Awards.
