Millions of people were told to prepare as Hurricane Milton made its way toward land yesterday. But humans weren’t the only ones who had to be on alert. The animals at the zoo also had to adjust to the coming storm. Thankfully, they didn’t have to do it on their own. The caregivers at St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park were there to help.
To keep the animals safe, many of them were moved indoors to avoid the flooding. But the alligators? They were just fine outside! One employee even filmed an amazing video during the storm. The rain was pouring, the alligators were bellowing loudly, and big birds flew in the distance. The man even joked, “I’m getting Jurassic Park vibes!”
The video got plenty of attention, and people had some funny things to say. One person commented, “In the event you cannot check your Waffle House index, please listen for the gator warning system.” Another chimed in, “Gators and rain. That’s Floridian ASMR.”
So why were the alligators making so much noise? There’s actually a good reason! You can watch the video to find out why they were bellowing during the storm.
Before Hurricane Milton hit, it was a Category 5 storm. While it caused some damage, the worst didn’t happen. The staff at the zoo were relieved to report that all the animals, including the alligators, were doing just fine after the storm passed.
