This is especially true for parents. If a parent doesn’t fit the mold of what we expect, it can be really unfair to judge them just by their looks.
Meet Richard Huff, a 51-year-old man with a heart full of love and a body full of tattoos. When people see his face tattoos, they often jump to conclusions and say he must be a bad father. But there’s more to Richard’s story than meets the eye.
His wife, Marita, has something surprising to share that will change how you see him. Keep reading to find out!
Richard is a self-proclaimed “ink addict” who uses tattoos as a way to express himself. He has over 240 tattoos covering about 85% of his body! For Richard, tattoos are more than just designs; they are a form of art that tells his story.
He proudly displays the names of his five children and even a tattoo of his daughter’s lips. “It became an addiction,” Richard explained. “I started with my legs and worked my way up. I want to be 100% covered in tattoos probably within the next four years.”
He finds the process fascinating, saying, “I don’t know if it’s the pain or the artwork that you put on you, but it just becomes fascinating when you’re able to do this.”
Despite his love for tattoos, Richard faces challenges. His appearance sometimes scares other kids at his children’s school. His daughter bravely shared, “They say, ‘Ah, it’s a bit scary,’ and I say, ‘No, my dad is not scary; he is good with tattoos!’” Richard’s family knows the truth about him, but it’s hard for others to see past his tattoos.
Marita, Richard’s wife, also had her doubts at first. She admitted, “I did judge Richard based on his looks at first, but as I got to know him a little bit, he is actually a big-hearted person.” She often shares videos and pictures of Richard with their kids, showing how much love he has for his family.
Marita has three children from previous relationships, and she says Richard has stepped up to be a wonderful father to them all. “He’s more than a real father to my kids,” she said. “He’s always there for them.”
Richard is actively involved in his children’s lives. “I participate in the PTA, I go to all my kids’ functions,” he proudly stated. Despite his efforts to be a good dad, people still criticize him online. One comment read, “I’m not against tattoos, but honestly, does he really need tattoos on his face like that?”
But not everyone is so quick to judge. Supporters have come to Richard’s defense, saying things like, “Everyone keeps talking about his face tattoo. He likes it. He got it. He’s a good father. Let him be.”
Richard himself has spoken about the negative comments, saying, “If somebody can make negative comments like that, there’s something wrong with them themselves that they would have to judge somebody else.” He believes that what matters most is the happiness of his family.
“This is what we did and we’re happy. We’ve been together six years; our kids are happy, and to us, that’s all that matters.”
Even though the criticism can be tough to handle, Richard’s love for his family remains strong. “Having tattoos does not scare my children; it does not make me a bad father. It makes my kids get a different perspective on life,” he explained.
