While the third season is currently being filmed, the second season of “And Just Like That…” is now premiering on free TV in Germany.
The cult series “Sex and the City” continues after six seasons and two films with the sequel “And Just Like That…”. The third season is currently being filmed in New York, featuring characters played by Sarah Jessica Parker, 59, Cynthia Nixon, 58, and Kristin Davis, 59, who continue to grapple with issues like aging, teenage children, and dating. In Germany, fans can bide their time until the new season’s likely 2025 release with the second season.
The free TV premiere on VOX begins on July 16 at 8:15 PM with three episodes. Following this, the private broadcaster will air two new episodes every Tuesday in prime time. All eleven episodes of the second season are also available on RTL+, along with a documentary accompanying the series. Sarah Jessica Parker, the lead actress, revealed in an interview released by VOX for the free TV premiere how challenging the sequel’s filming has been.
“Quite Costly and Time-Consuming”
In the interview, the Carrie Bradshaw actress shared that the film crew in New York is increasingly besieged by onlookers. Unlike the 90s, when “Sex and the City” was filmed, there were no social media back then, and “many more people now have phones with cameras.” Parker emphasized, “It is a much more intense audience than it used to be. It is certainly as large, if not larger, especially on certain streets known to people as filming locations.”
This has made the production significantly more difficult: “And that was a logistical challenge for us. For us as producers, it’s a challenge to get all our equipment into the small streets of New York City, to create space for our crew and a video village.” The scene needs to be cordoned off, but there must still be enough space for pedestrians and fans. They are “of course allowed to be there,” but it must be explained to them that “talking and taking flash photos ruin the shots.”
Nevertheless, it can always happen that a cell phone flash or a clicking noise ruins a complex shot. “That is really challenging for us. But that is our burden to bear. We fix it, but it is also quite costly and time-consuming.”
Second Season to Be More Hopeful
After the first season started with a shock—Carrie’s great love Mr. Big died—the second continuation is set to be more positive. “It feels hopeful and much more upbeat,” Sarah Jessica Parker offers insight into the emotional state of her famous cult character. Although grief may occasionally surface, the author “is doing well overall.” Carrie is happy and is rediscovering single life. “Times have fundamentally changed since she was last single. But it feels like a very joyful season. It feels like a season that is promising and full of discoveries for everyone. Not just for Carrie, but for everyone.”
