Before he passed away in 2008, Alec shared a story about their early marriage. He said that a year or so after their 1978 wedding, Jocelyn pointed out that his eyes looked baggy.
This led them both to get eye lifts, a decision that Alec believed sparked Jocelyn’s obsession with surgery. “She was crazy,” Alec recalled in 1998. “I would always find out last. She was thinking that she could fix her face like a piece of furniture. Skin does not work that way. But she wouldn’t listen.”
In the 1990s, during her high-profile divorce from Alec, Jocelyn became a regular in the tabloids. She walked away with an enormous settlement of about $2.5 billion, which was split into annual payments. However, after Alec passed away, his family cut her off from those payments, leading to serious financial struggles. In 2018, Jocelyn even had to file for bankruptcy because of her growing debts.
