Celeb Has Officially Renounced His U.S. Citizenship

Just hours after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Green Day’s frontman Billie Joe Armstrong made a fiery statement during a concert in London. When he learned of the court’s ruling right in the middle of the show, Armstrong didn’t hold back. With his emotions running high, he told the audience he was done with the U.S. and would renounce his citizenship.

In an intense and passionate speech, Armstrong expressed his anger at the state of the world, calling it “stupid.” But he had the harshest words for his own country, describing the U.S. as a “miserable” place. He hinted that he might not return after Green Day’s European tour. “I don’t think I want to go back,” he said, making his disgust with the situation clear.

The London audience responded with loud applause, backing Armstrong’s bold stance. He let the cheers grow louder before speaking again, making sure the crowd knew he was serious. “I’m not joking,” he told them, emphasizing that he was committed to giving up his U.S. citizenship.

Then, he dropped another surprise: he might be moving to the U.K. “You’re going to see a lot more of me in the coming days,” Armstrong said, sending the crowd into another wave of cheers.

The next day, Armstrong returned to the London stage and continued his outspoken protest. “F*** the Supreme Court and America!” he shouted, and the crowd responded with roaring applause. Green Day then performed their hit song “American Idiot,” an anthem that perfectly captured the rebellious spirit of the moment.

Armstrong’s anger wasn’t unique—other musicians also spoke out against the Supreme Court’s decision, which handed the power to restrict abortions to individual states. Many red states were already moving to make abortions harder to access, cutting off vital healthcare options for women.

Billie Eilish, another music icon, voiced her frustration at the same ruling. During a performance in July 2022, she shared her disappointment with the audience. “Today is a really, really dark day for women in the U.S.,” she said, struggling to keep her emotions in check. “I can’t even think about it anymore,” she added.

Eilish then dedicated her song “Your Power” to the Supreme Court justices responsible for overturning Roe v. Wade. “This song is about power and how important it is that we don’t abuse it,” she explained before performing.
