“The Voice” is back for its 2025 season, but there’s one thing that has fans buzzing—Adam Levine’s return as a coach! While some fans are over the moon, others are seriously upset. The mix of reactions has taken social media by storm. Here’s what people are saying.

Many fans were thrilled to see Levine, the frontman of Maroon 5, return to the red chair. One excited fan gushed, “I AM SOOOOOO GLAD Adam is back… They are all amazing but Adam has always been a favorite.”

His return sparked a lot of positive chatter, with viewers expressing their love for his role in the show. But not everyone shares that enthusiasm.

One disappointed viewer shared, “Watched it, but not real happy with judge choices this year. Sad. I was looking forward to it starting back up. Disappointed!!”

Others echoed this sentiment, wishing the show had kept former coaches like Gwen Stefani, Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton, and Snoop Dogg. “Just not the same without the previous coaches. Miss Gwen, Reba, Blake, Snoop and more.

Not a fan of Adam,” one fan wrote.

Though there are some who are upset about the coaching changes, there’s a vocal group of viewers who are ready for the new season. Still, not everyone’s feelings about Adam are positive. Some fans brought up memories from past seasons when Levine’s decisions stirred controversy.

One user recalled a moment from a previous season when Adam’s support for a sick team member led to a shocking elimination. “Any contestant with common sense would stay away from picking Adam.

My jaw dropped when he told one of his team members that ‘he had to support his girl.’ A team member that was sick and didn’t perform that night. Didn’t pan out well because she got sent home! But to tell the audience to basically vote for one team member over another…

I lost all respect for Adam,” they said.

Despite the mixed emotions, there’s no denying that many fans are looking forward to the new season. One viewer shared, “Sooo good! And am so glad Adam is back!!! Love me some Maroon 5!!!!” The excitement continues as fans tune in for what promises to be an unpredictable season.

In a recent interview with People, Adam Levine opened up about his decision to return to “The Voice” after taking a break.

“I honestly feel like the stars aligned,” he said, explaining that the timing felt right. “It was one of those moments where we started talking about it and it felt right… and it hadn’t felt right until now.”

Levine, who had stepped away from the show after season 16, explained that the constant filming had taken a toll on him. He had been a coach on the show for nearly nine years, and the long hours and constant travel made him feel burned out.

“Doing it for so long, so consistently, for almost eight or nine years of my life, you can definitely start to get burnt,” he admitted.

During his time away from the show, Levine turned his focus to his music and personal life. “I did it for this really long period of time so I started to feel like I was kind of getting away from things that matter to me the most, like making music and playing music,” he shared.

The break allowed him to reconnect with what he loved most. “It was so nice to have one job,” he said with a smile. Now, he’s ready to return to “The Voice” with a fresh perspective. “I feel like I’m ready to welcome back a huge part of my life,” he added.

Levine also mentioned how his fellow coaches—Kelsea Ballerini, Michael Bublé, and John Legend—played a role in making his comeback feel right. “I got lucky because I got these guys,” he said, eager to work alongside them and share the stage again.

One of the biggest changes fans will notice is Levine’s new outlook on the show. “I don’t really see it as a competition anymore, and I know they’re not going to like that, but that’s not what it is,” Levine said.

He explained that his primary focus now is mentoring the contestants and helping them grow. “It’s an opportunity for us to share our experiences with the people on the show. And it always has been that,” he shared.

While competition is still a part of the show, Levine believes the real value comes from the guidance he can offer. “I think that’s really valuable for the people on the show that are needing that experience, or that push, that help. And that’s what I think we’re there for,” he said, showing his true passion for supporting aspiring artists.

Levine’s return to “The Voice” was officially announced in June 2024. He had been one of the original coaches when the show first premiered in 2011, along with Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green. Levine stayed on the show for 16 seasons before taking a break in 2019.

However, his guest appearances kept fans hopeful that he might return. And now, he’s back full-time for season 27.

In a 2019 interview on The Howard Stern Show, Levine explained his reasons for leaving “The Voice.” “The real answer is that I was ready to not be doing it anymore… for a little bit,” he said.

“For better or worse, the moment in which we decided to walk away felt really good. This was the right time for me to go.”

Levine admitted that his decision was also influenced by the demands of his personal life. “For eight-and-a-half years, I was so busy—[I] had the band, [I] had ‘The Voice.’ I was beyond fortunate to go through all of it because it was a life-altering experience being on that show,” he explained.

But as his personal life evolved, so did his priorities. “Then it got to the point where I got married, I had two kids, and I wanted to spend time with them,” he shared.

His break allowed him to focus on his family while still pursuing his music career. But now, six years later, Levine feels ready for a fresh start and a new chapter in his “Voice” journey.

Season 27 of The Voice premiered on Monday, February 3, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. No matter the mixed reviews, Adam Levine’s return is one of the most talked-about moments of the new season, and it promises to bring more excitement than ever before.
