I couldn’t believe her attitude, so I did what I had to—I evicted her. After that, a whole year went by without hearing anything from her. Then, out of nowhere, she called me and demanded I come see her. I didn’t want to, but I went anyway.
When I arrived, I was shocked. She was living in a tiny apartment, and she told me something I never saw coming. She said that before my dad died, he used all the rest of his savings to buy this apartment for her, so she’d have a place to stay if she was ever forced to leave the house.
