Insider reveals Ryan Seacrest’s true feelings about ‘Wheel of Fortune’ gig before taking over from Pat Sajak

Ryan Seacrest has been in the spotlight for years, but even with all his experience, he’s feeling the pressure as he gets ready to take over Wheel of Fortune from the legendary Pat Sajak. Sajak, at 77, has been hosting the show for over 40 years, and his retirement marks the end of an era. Now, at 49, Seacrest is stepping in, but he knows this is no ordinary job—it’s a major challenge.

According to Radar Online, Seacrest is doing everything he can to calm his nerves before taking on this iconic role. While fans are excited to see him as the new host, even someone with Seacrest’s impressive TV background feels the weight of expectations.

“Ryan often takes on more than he can handle,” a source close to Seacrest told Radar Online. “He’s really anxious right now. He wanted to be the next Dick Clark, and he’s definitely on that path. But he’s only human, and replacing Pat Sajak on Wheel of Fortune is a massive task.”

Even though Seacrest is no stranger to live television—after all, he’s been the host of American Idol for years—this new role is on another level. Fans have grown up watching Sajak, so stepping into those shoes is not something Seacrest takes lightly. But if anyone can do it, it’s him.

The new episodes of Wheel of Fortune are set to air this September, and Seacrest is relying on several methods to help him prepare. “He’s doing everything to handle the nerves before this hosting gig,” the source added. “He makes sure to get at least eight hours of sleep and listens to audiobooks about anxiety because Ryan never knows when to stop on his own. He’s really committed to being in the best mindset.”

But that’s not all. Seacrest has some simple but effective tricks to keep himself calm. “He also steps outside for fresh air and sunlight when he’s feeling stressed. That always helps clear his head. And once he’s at the studio, he’ll have a cozy, air-conditioned trailer where he can relax between takes,” the insider said.

Despite the pressure, Seacrest has shown nothing but respect and admiration for Pat Sajak. Just three weeks ago, he posted a heartfelt tribute to Sajak on Instagram, praising the legendary host for his years of dedication to the show and his partnership with Vanna White, 67.

“Pat, congrats on an amazing run with Wheel of Fortune!” Seacrest wrote. “Your dedication, charm, and humor have made the show a beloved part of American TV for decades. Your partnership with Vanna has been truly iconic, and together, you’ve created countless great memories for viewers. You’ve set the bar for hosts everywhere.”

Seacrest knows that filling Sajak’s shoes won’t be easy, but with his dedication, experience, and genuine respect for what Sajak and White have built, he’s more than ready to step up and bring his own style to Wheel of Fortune. Fans are eager to see him take the reins, and Seacrest is determined to honor the legacy while making the show his own.
