Pauley Perrette: A Journey of Courage and Change
Pauley Perrette bravely shared a significant moment in her life when she revealed that she suffered a stroke in 2021. On September 2, 2022, she posted a heartfelt video on social media to mark the first anniversary of this life-changing event.
In the video, Pauley opened up about the tough times she faced during her recovery. “I lost close ones and friends,” she said, reflecting on the emotional challenges she endured. She expressed deep gratitude for being alive and proudly called herself a survivor, emphasizing the strength it took to overcome her experiences.
Pauley talked about the many times she had narrowly avoided death due to severe allergies to food and hair dyes. She also faced significant challenges in her life, including domestic abuse, sexual assault, and a near-fatal attack by a troubled homeless person. After two long years of struggle, she finally felt “good” about herself and found joy in caring for her rescue pets.
Since leaving her iconic role as Abby Sciuto on NCIS, Pauley’s appearance has changed quite a bit. At first, fans didn’t respond well to her new rainbow-colored hair, which she proudly showcased the year before revealing her stroke. On November 10, 2021, Pauley posted several pictures on Twitter, showing off her colorful, damp hair. “I look like a rainbow!” she exclaimed, celebrating her bold new look.
Unfortunately, not everyone was kind. One troll commented that Pauley’s hair was “ugly” and proudly declared they felt no remorse for their harsh words. This person insisted Pauley “looked cheap” despite her “such a beautiful face” and even suggested that her style was only for “Walmart patrons.”
Another user liked colorful hair but thought hers was “ratty,” while yet another called her appearance “horrible” and someone else labeled it “awful.”
However, as Pauley shared her story of resilience and courage, many fans began to change their opinions. On July 24, 2023, she posted more stunning photos on Instagram, showing her with her rainbow-colored hair once again. In a surprising twist, Pauley admitted she was “terrified of Harmon,” expressing her fears about her former co-star Mark Harmon and worrying about an attack from him.
But fans quickly came to her side with support and encouragement. One fan urged her to “keep on being you” because she was “awesome.” Another admirer affectionately called her “Aunt P,” telling her she was “so beautiful” and expressing their love for her. Many praised her ability to make others smile and advised her to “stay you,” be happy, and keep safe.
Pauley’s journey with NCIS was complicated. After dedicating 15 years to the show, she left in 2018. Sources indicated that her departure stemmed from a falling out with Mark Harmon. Tension between them grew when Harmon’s dog bit a crew member, requiring fifteen stitches.
Their troubled relationship became evident when they didn’t share any scenes together during Pauley’s farewell episode. While saying goodbye to her colleagues at NCIS headquarters, Mark’s character only received a letter from her, which he read as Pauley watched from across the street.
In a 2019 Twitter post, Pauley declared, “I will never change my part in the show.” She also voiced her fears, stating she was “terrified of Harmon” and often had nightmares about potential attacks. Thankfully, Pauley has since moved on to a new, safe, and happy project.
