I Met My Husband and His Mistress at a Public Pool – I Wanted to Teach Him a Lesson, but Karma Had Other Plans
When I saw my husband, Tom, at the public pool with a young blonde, I was ready to confront him and ask what was going on. Little did I know that this moment would lead to a whirlwind of events that would completely change my life.
Let me introduce myself: my name is Lisa. Tom and I have been married for four years. From the outside, our life looked perfect. Tom had a good job in an office, we owned two nice cars, a beautiful house, and we had a dog named Max. But everything changed today.
It was my day off, and I decided to make Tom a special breakfast. I was cooking pancakes when he walked into the kitchen, already looking upset. “Good morning, Tom,” I said cheerfully, hoping to brighten the mood. “Breakfast is almost ready.” He replied flatly, “Morning,” barely looking at me.
Things went downhill when we sat down to eat. I realized I had used up all the blueberries, which seemed to set him off. “You know I like blueberries, Lisa,” he said sharply. “You could have told me we were leaving,” I shot back, trying to stay calm.
Our small argument escalated quickly. Tom finished his breakfast in silence, grabbed his briefcase, and headed for the door. “I’ll see you later,” he said coldly. “Yeah, later,” I replied, feeling frustrated and annoyed.
After Tom left, I stared at the half-eaten pancakes on the table. Anger and sadness filled me. Our fights were becoming more frequent, and I was exhausted by it all. I decided to call my best friend, May. “Hey, May! Do you want to go swimming today? I need a distraction,” I said, trying to sound upbeat.
“Of course, Lisa! Let’s meet at my place in an hour!” she replied excitedly. I got ready and drove to May’s house, hoping a day at the pool would lift my spirits.
The sun was shining, and the pool was packed with families and friends enjoying the beautiful day. May and I found a spot close to the water. We ordered some pizza and chatted about everything and nothing. “This is exactly what I needed,” I said, finally starting to relax. “Me too! There’s nothing like a pool day to lift your spirits!” May smiled, and I could feel my mood improving.
Suddenly, I noticed a familiar face across the pool. It was Tom, sitting on a sunbed about twenty meters away, laughing at something with a young blonde woman. I felt my heart drop. “May, look over there!” I stammered. “Is that Tom? And who is that blonde with him?”
“Oh, Lisa, I’m so sorry. Is that really him?” May asked, her voice shaky. “Yes, it is! I can’t believe this!” My anger boiled as I watched Tom, relaxed and carefree, his hand resting on hers. “This is unbelievable!”
“I have to do something,” I said, getting to my feet. “Hold on, Lisa!” May grabbed my arm, looking worried. “Think this through.” But I was too shocked to think straight. My hands shook with rage as my heart raced.
I started toward them, but before I could reach Tom, a young man, about twenty-two years old, rushed over. “Hey! What the hell do you think you’re doing?” he shouted, grabbing Tom by the collar and shoving him back onto the sunbed. The blonde gasped and jumped back.
Tom’s face turned pale. “I—I can explain!” he stuttered. The young man glared at him. “What’s there to explain? You’re cheating on my girlfriend!”
Tom’s eyes widened in fear. “Please, don’t make a scene. I’ll pay you! What do you want?” he begged, his voice trembling. The young man looked disgusted. “You think you can buy your way out of this?” He raised his fist, ready to punch.
I stood there, a mix of amusement and anger building inside me. This was too perfect. I pulled out my phone and started recording.
“Don’t hit me, please! I’m sorry!” Tom cried. The young man’s rage shifted to sympathy. “You’re not worth it,” he said, shoving Tom away. Tom slumped back onto the sunbed, looking pathetic.
Feeling a strange sense of satisfaction, I stopped recording and walked up to Tom. “Lisa, it’s not what it looks like!” he said, panic in his voice. “Oh really? You’re just making out with another woman?” I raised my phone, ready to show him the video. “I’ve got it all on camera.”
Tom’s face fell. “Please, Lisa. Let’s talk about this.” “There’s nothing to discuss. I’m divorcing you.” My voice was icy and firm.
The car ride home was silent. Tom kept glancing at me, but I just shook my head. My mind was made up. I stared out the window, trying to process everything: the confrontation, the betrayal, the humiliation in public.
When we got home, Tom finally broke the silence. “I’m sorry, Lisa. I swear it won’t happen again.” His eyes were red, and he looked like he might cry.
“I don’t care,” I replied, crossing my arms. “You’ve broken my trust. You turned on me.”
“Lisa, please!” he pleaded, stepping closer. “We can work this out!” I pulled away, feeling a massive gap between us.
“No, Tom. I’m done. You’ve crossed the line,” I shot back, my voice shaking with hurt and anger.
Tom’s desperation turned to rage. “Are you serious? This is all your fault!” he yelled, his face twisted with anger. “You’ve been acting cold and distant. I did this because of you!”
I was shocked. “You think I’m to blame for your cheating? Seriously?” I replied, incredulous. “You’ve changed since I married you!”
“You drove me away!” he shouted. “Lisa, you made me feel unwelcome!”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. This man, who once promised to love and cherish me, was now blaming me for his betrayal. That was it. I took out my phone and clicked on the video, sending it to his boss with a quick message: “Let’s see how your boss feels about his daughter being in this video.”
Tom’s eyes widened in horror. “No, Lisa! You can’t do that!” he yelled, lunging for my phone, but it was too late. The damage was done.
The next day, I found out the consequences were swift. Tom got fired from his job. His boss was furious about the scandal involving his daughter.
When Tom came home, he looked crushed. He tried again to convince me to take him back, but I was unyielding. While Tom’s life crumbled around him, I felt an unexpected sense of freedom.
I decided to move on and file for divorce. For the first time in a long time, I felt powerful and independent. I realized I had been carrying the weight of our troubled marriage on my own for too long.
Tom’s betrayal had shattered our marriage, but it also set me free. Now, I could leave his lies behind and reclaim my life.
I was ready to rediscover who I was and find happiness on my own terms. Even though the future felt uncertain, for the first time in ages, I felt hopeful.
