Rod Stewart’s wife Penny Lancaster blasted online at 53, fans say tiny bikini unflattering

Penny Lancaster, wife of rock legend Rod Stewart, has found herself in the middle of a social media storm after being spotted in a tiny bikini on a yacht off the coast of Sardinia, Italy.

Some fans commented that the 53-year-old model looked “sagging” and “drooping” in her swimsuit, while others argued that there was “no need for name-calling” and that she looked great for her age. So why is everyone talking about Penny’s beach look? Let’s find out!

Rod Stewart, despite his busy tour schedule, took some time off to relax with his big family in Sardinia, Italy, for a much-needed break with his wife Penny Lancaster. Penny, who married Rod in 2007, shared their happy moments on Instagram, saying, “Another amazing family holiday together (a few were sadly missed) in the [Mediterranean] bonding, healing, love, and laughter.”

The post included a picture of Rod, now 79, with their daughters Kimberly, 44, and Ruby, 37, and their sons Aiden, 13, and Alastair, 18.

Also on the trip were Rod’s two sons-in-law, Adam Sumner and Jake Alick, and his little grandson, Otis, who is just over a year old.

In a July 2024 interview with Hello! magazine, Penny talked about how important these family gatherings are. “We like to take every opportunity to bring the family, children, and grandchildren together,” she said. “The whole clan gets together at least two or three times a year, but it takes a lot of planning because some of the family lives in America and some in England.”

The “Wrong Bikini Top” Controversy

Before heading back to his Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace, Rod and Penny were seen enjoying the sun on a luxurious $65 million super yacht in Porto Cervo, a beautiful seaside town in northern Sardinia.

Rod, the famous singer of “Tonight’s the Night,” was dressed in a light lemon-colored button-down shirt, keeping his face shaded from the intense sun with a towel. Meanwhile, Penny confidently displayed her fit figure in a little black bikini, her blonde hair tied back in a ponytail.

But not everyone was impressed. Some social media users quickly voiced their opinions about Penny’s bikini choice. One critic tweeted, “After noticing the drooping, sagging, and wrinkled skin barely held together by the bikini… It’s more like ‘Ewwww.'”

Another simply commented, “Wrong bikini top.” A third person chimed in, “For a woman who was famous for modeling, she’s letting the side down. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should,” suggesting Penny might need a stylist before stepping out in public.

Still, some came to Penny’s defense. One supporter wrote, “The swimsuit is not flattering, but let’s stop the criticism; she’s in her 50s. She may not be amazing to everyone, but there’s no need to call her names.”

Another fan added, “Leave her alone. They’re on vacation on their yacht, not a public beach!”

Rod Stewart: Still a Style Icon

Meanwhile, Rod Stewart is proving he’s still got it when it comes to fashion. On July 12, he posted a picture of himself on the yacht, wearing a bold black and white striped short suit. He used the opportunity to tease his upcoming shows in Las Vegas.

“I’m all decked up for the holidays and excited to visit Caesars Palace in Las Vegas from July 24 to August 7,” he wrote.

His outfit was a modern twist on one he wore back in 1973 and is just one of many “anything but subtle” looks that have made him a “fashion icon,” according to Vogue magazine.

While opinions about Penny’s bikini are divided, there’s no doubt that she and Rod continue to make waves—whether on a yacht in Italy or a stage in Las Vegas!
