Miranda Lambert is back in the headlines, and this time, it’s for her bold behavior at the Montana Festival on July 14. The country singer, known for her fiery personality, is facing backlash from fans who didn’t appreciate how she handled the crowd during her performance.
This isn’t the first time Lambert has been called out for her actions on stage, but this latest incident seems to have pushed some of her supporters away for good.
The drama started when a fan filmed a video of Lambert mid-performance. In the clip, the singer is clearly frustrated with the audience, particularly those who weren’t paying attention to her. Dressed in her usual country style—a cowboy hat and a denim dress with fun, fringed tassels—Lambert didn’t hold back as she addressed the distracted fans.
Pointing right at them, she said, “I can see your head is not turned the right way, which is this way,” while motioning toward herself.
Her tone was sharp, and her southern drawl only made her frustration more obvious. Some fans cheered, happy that Lambert was calling out the rude behavior, but others in the crowd were shocked by her stern approach.
Lambert wasn’t done yet. “So, if you came to visit, you can do it somewhere else,” she said, making it clear she wasn’t interested in playing to an inattentive audience. For those who were there to enjoy the concert, she reassured them with a smile, “If you came to sing and hear some country music and drink some beer […] then we’re doing that tonight.”
But things didn’t stop there. Lambert also addressed some troublemakers in the crowd who seemed to be causing a scene. “Are we clear?” she asked, raising her hands as if giving a final warning. Then, in an effort to lighten the mood, she cracked a joke. “Fighting is not ok […] And it’s always the girls.
We get crazy!” she laughed, trying to bring the audience back into a fun, relaxed vibe. She lifted her cup in a toast, but before she could drink, she realized it was empty.
With a quick wave to her crew, Lambert said, “Mine’s empty,” and without missing a beat, a team member rushed over with a new drink. Lambert, never one to miss an opportunity to connect with her audience, held up her fresh cup and shouted, “This looks like a good time for a drink, y’all!” Her arms wide open, she was back in performance mode, trying to move past the tense moment.
The video quickly hit TikTok, where it sparked a flood of opinions. The post, captioned “Thoughts? 🤷🏻♀️ #mirandalambert #underthebigsky #whitefishmontana #countrymusic,” got a ton of comments—many of them negative. “We left. As did LOTS of the crowd,” one fan wrote, expressing their disappointment.
Another person said, “Terrible,” while someone else commented, “I stopped liking Miranda for this exact reason.”
Fans who had seen similar behavior from Lambert in the past also shared their thoughts. “This has always been her. I remember it from her county fair days. [Never] paid to see her again,” one person wrote. Another chimed in with, “Miranda, [you’re] okay at best. Not amazing. Please respect your fans more.
They made you what you are. Without them you’d be some nobody working at Dairy Queen. Respectfully, just shut up and sing.”
However, not everyone was upset. One fan who had been close to the stage said, “Honestly she was amazing. We were right up front and loved every second of it.” Another person added, “🔥🔥🔥🔥 I LOVE her. Always have. She’s brutally honest. Something so many of us lack. Honesty!”
This isn’t the first time Lambert has gotten attention for her tough love approach to her audience. During a previous show in Las Vegas, she stopped her performance of “Tin Man” to call out some women who were too busy taking selfies to listen to the song. Lambert was clearly irritated, and she told the crowd, “These girls are worried about their selfie and not listening to the song, and it’s pissed me off a little bit.”
The crowd roared with applause, but Lambert made sure the women put their phones away before restarting the song, asking, “Shall we start again?”
After the Montana incident, social media continued to light up with discussions. One TikTok user commented, “Yikes this was completely out of line and awkward. She’s not a teacher here 😅,” while another person said, “Omg… and then imagine how they felt after this???”
Some people found the situation funny, with one person writing, “The people leaving right after she did it lmaoooo that was great!” A Taylor Swift fan added, “Taylor [Swift] would never 😏.”
Lambert’s fans remain divided. Some admire her honesty and think her directness is refreshing, while others find her confrontational style off-putting. Either way, Miranda Lambert continues to speak her mind, no matter how it lands with her audience. Whether you love her or not, she remains unapologetically herself, and she isn’t afraid to show it on stage.
